Summary:
The Reporter is responsible for gathering, researching, and reporting news across multiple platforms, including print and web. The role demands strong journalistic skills, digital fluency, and ability to adapt content for various audience segments. The ideal candidate can excel in a fast-paced environment, is detail-oriented, and understands how to communicate effectively across traditional and emerging media.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Research and reports on assigned or self-developed news stories across Glimpses Media platforms.
Gathers and verifies information regarding stories through interviews, observations, and research.
Writes clear, accurate, and engaging content tailored to print, web, and radio formats, following established editorial standards.
Covers community events and produces photos of the events for uploading to websites, social media and Glimpses Media archives.
May be required to shoot and edit basic video and audio content to accompany stories on digital platforms.
Produces accompanying content for digital platforms, including headlines, photo captions, social media teasers, and newsletter blurbs.
Posts and updates stories in content management system (CMS) for publication’s websites.
May be required to travel as part of a media delegation, or for news coverage.
May be required to represent Glimpses Media through event attendance.
Stays informed on current events and trends in journalism, digital publishing, and audience engagement.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communication, or appropriate experience or a combination of both.
Skills and Requirements:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations to convey in assigned news stories.
Ability to use common mathematical skills to compute rate, ratio, and percents and to produce graphic information.
High proficiency levels with Microsoft Word are a requirement for this position. May be required to use Excel.

Additional responsibilities:
Prepare radio news for broadcast, until further notice.
Digital responsibilities as defined and subject to development and change:
Lead social media content planning and execution for MBJ and GBM
Schedule weekly to monthly content in advance via Buffer, with a consistent content mix, to include possible off-days where there are no news updates
Meet with Creative to define brand tone and visual consistency for digital storytelling
Develop visual storytelling assets (infographics, charts, short-form content) in collaboration with Creative for complex data or stories; this includes research, creation and management of creative briefs to guide artists and staying active on Wrike regularly for project management and communications
Track and report monthly social media performance on metric dashboard; include insights and recommendations
Monitor website content quality and formatting, including headlines, links, images, and SEO
Participate in internal or external social/digital training or workshops
Join discussion with sales when digital content strategy intersects with advertising or sponsored content, helping to maintain editorial balance
